The Cholmondeley Arms, Cheshire

The Cholmondeley Arms is a unique pub set inside a former Victorian village schoolhouse on Lord Cholmondeley’s Estate. Surrounded by beautiful Cheshire countryside and next to Cholmondeley Castle, The Cholmondeley Arms dates back to 1862.
It was converted in 1988 and was the first public house on the estate for over a century.
The pub was acquired and restored in 2011 by its current owners Tim Bird and Mary McLaughlin and has won many accolades, having built a reputation for great locally sourced food and local ales. It is also famous for offering nearly 200 different gins!
The décor of the new Cholmondeley Arms is warm and inviting and there are many interesting pieces of furniture including blackboards and other ‘old school’ items.
The Cholmondeley Arms has six en-suite bedrooms situated in the ‘Headmasters House’ opposite and the rooms are named after some famous, and in the main fictional, teachers and Headmasters!
Dogs are welcome in the 3 ground floor rooms – Mr. Bird, Mr. Chips and Mr Dumbledore. Up to 2 dogs can stay in the rooms and there is no restriction on size. There is a £10 charge per dog which will be added to your room.
Dogs are made very welcome at The Cholmondeley Arms Pub. There are water bowls with fresh water at the front door and around the garden. At the bar you will find a jar of dog biscuits and your dog can even try the recently introduced Dog Beer!!!! (this is actually a meat based stock drink for our four-legged friends to enjoy).
You won’t be short of places to go for a walk either. The Cholmondeley Arms is surrounded by the Estate, fields and the gardens at Cholmondeley Castle allow dogs on leads.
All in all a great place to visit where you and your beloved dog will be made extremely welcome.
