The Lovat is a dog friendly 4 star, 3 rosette Victorian hotel in Fort Augustus at the southern tip of Loch Ness.
An award-winning hotel, The Lovat has a long and established history that stretches back to the 1860’s and in 2007 underwent a major refurbishment.
At the Lovat, all the staff aim to offer guests and their four-legged friends a Scottish experience they will never forget. In recent years, they have become known as one of the most exciting and welcoming hotels in the Highlands and have been highly praised for their customer service.
There are 6 dog friendly bedrooms at The Lovat, located roughly 10 steps away from the main hotel itself in a newly built annex building. These Studio Bedrooms have been refurbished this year & are now equipped with super-king size beds.
They are not strict on enforcing the number of pets you can bring along with you, however, due to the size of the rooms, ideal number would be 2. There is a charge of £6.50 per night for your dog to stay at The Lovat.
Your beloved pooch will find the room equipped with a bowl, mat and towel. Moreover, you are invited to have the hotel arrange your dog’s favourite food for arrival or any other additional treats!
Your four-legged friend is welcome to accompany you in the Bar and Brasserie area – wherever there is wooden flooring. Here you can enjoy some of the award winning locally sourced cuisine for which The Lovat is renowned.
Pets are welcome to use the grounds for exercise, however, The Lovat is located within easy reach of many major Highlands’ attractions, walks and activities which you and your canine companion can enjoy.
Jump aboard a boat and go hunting for Nessie! Jacobite Cruises, based in Inverness, operates trips on Loch Ness and through the Caledonian Canal. Well-behaved dogs are welcome on board the Inspiration and Reflection cruises free of charge.
Enjoy a vintage steam train journey through the Highlands on the Strathspey Railway, which runs through the Cairngorms National Park from Aviemore to Broomhill, via Boat of Garten. Dogs are welcome on board trains but are not allowed in first class or the dining areas. There is no charge for four-legged travellers.
Nevis Range Mountain Experience has Britain’s only mountain gondola from which you can enjoy panoramic views of the Highlands. Dogs are allowed to accompany their owners on the gondola, which transports you up to 2,150ft on the north face of Aonach Mor, the eighth highest mountain in Britain. There is no charge for dogs.
