One of the Great Inns of Britain, The West Arms is a traditional 16th-century inn situated 9.4 miles from Llangollen and 12.7 miles from Chirk Castle and Gardens.
Although built around 1570, The West Arms was not an Inn until 1670. Attractive bedrooms have replaced old cattle stalls but the original 16th-century charm still remains and boasts riverside gardens with an unsurpassed view of the wonderful Berwyns.
Individually decorated rooms offer private bathrooms (most are en suite), TVs, and tea and coffee making facilities. Some rooms have WiFi. Suites have separate lounge areas.
All 16 rooms at The West Arms are dog friendly and up to 2 dogs can stay at a cost of £10 per dog per night.
Full cooked breakfast is included; afternoon tea is available. The Inn has a riverside garden and a lounge/bar with a fireplace for you and your four-legged friend to enjoy.
Bowls of water are provided in the lounge/bar and outside and dog treats are available in the Front Reception Hall.
You can sample the delicious traditional British cuisine at The West Arms with you canine companion as the only restricted area is the restaurant.
The location of The West Arms amongst the Berwyn hills is stunning; the views and surrounding areas are amazing.
There are many delightful walking routes for you and your beloved pooch to enjoy around Llanarmon or you could head off to Pistyll Rhaeadr, an enchanting waterfall in the Berwyn Mountains just inside Wales and west of Oswestry and Shrewsbury.
At 240ft (80m) high, it is the UK’s tallest single drop waterfall and one of the Seven Wonders of Wales. Famous for the Timotei Shampoo advert with the beautiful girl, it is approximately a 20 minute drive from The West Arms along a beautiful scenic route with a delightful dog friendly tea room at the site to refresh yourself once you arrive.
The West Arms gets excellent reviews from its customers and would make a great base for exploring this beautiful part of Wales.
