Hello again dog friends,
This weekend our walk was in Chatsworth Park. Hum (Human Mum) decided we could go there and then also view one of the Dog Friendly establishments owned by the estate.
So off we set into Derbyshire and the Peak District with Hum muttering about how much she hates driving though a place called Chesterfield.
Chatsworth is an absolutely, totally massive house (Hum says it is a Stately Home) and the park is HUGE! We stopped up by the house and walked down a path and over a bridge so Hum could see the house in all its glory and take photos. She kept saying ‘look at that view, isn’t it lovely’ but I was more interested in the fact that there were lots of those woolly sheep things wandering around.
I so wanted to play with them but had to be kept on my lead and was told they wouldn’t want to play with me. Certainly one did look very grumpy so maybe Hum had a point!
Fortunately I met two lovely dogs – Spaniels called Ruby and Poppy so we played together and their human was local to the area so showed us a nice walk to a village on the Estate called Edensor.
There was so much more we could have done and next time Hum says she wants to explore the Chatsworth House gardens as they have lots of water features and stuff (Hum loves a water feature).
Apparently there are woods, reservoirs, waterfalls, ponds as well as the more formal gardens with a maze and a sensory garden. That should all be really fun to explore next time!
We will possibly come back when Hum’s Mum is over as she loves a stately home and so we can all enjoy.
As it was this time we had to leave in time for some food and a viewing of the accommodation at the dog friendly Devonshire Arms in Pilsley which I will tell you about in another Blog entry.
My rating is 4 paw prints for Chatsworth – lots to explore but nowhere to be off lead.
